What is freedom? Freedom is choice, but do you really have a choice? When was the last time you bought something important and never thought about the cost? When you purchased your car, was it the exact car you wanted or did pick one you could afford? Do you have a budget at home and do you watch your money like a hawk because you have to? Are you trading your time for money? Is that really having freedom or just deciding on the best compromise? Close your eyes for a moment and imagine this, a man gets up in the morning and has a cup of coffee while he reads the newspaper. In an article in the paper he reads a review on a restaurant that just opened up. They rave about a world renowned chef they were fortunate enough to get. The restaurant sounds intriguing to him so he decides to reschedule his day and make a reservation for lunch. Later in the morning, he gets in the beautiful car that he purchased a couple of months ago. When he arrives at the restaurant the valet takes his car and he tips him extra to take care of it. The valet is so impressed by the tip that he parks it right next to the entrance so he can keep an eye on it. The man sits down at his table and the waiter comes over to take his order. He asks to speak to the chef so the waiter obliges and leaves to get him. The chef soon arrives and after a brief conversation he offers to cook his specialty. The chef also recommends a wine for the meal and the waiter heads off to the cellar for the very special bottle. After a fantastic meal he decides to go for a drive. It is a beautiful day, after all. He gets home later that afternoon and sits down to watch the news. A commercial comes on regarding a cruise line and their newest and most extravagant ocean liner. He and his wife always have wanted to go on a cruise but just never got around to it. He decides to call the cruise line and surprise her when she gets back from her trip. While talking to the agent she tells him about a special suite that overlooks the pool with a birds eye view of the fireworks display each night, has a full glass wall, a party deck and has private stairs to the lounge. Since it is his first cruise and he wants to make it very special, he books the room.. This was an ordinary day for this man and he enjoys something we all thought we had, the freedom of choice. He never looks at the price tag, he just decides to make a choice. What kind of freedom do you want? What kind of choices do you want to make or be able to make?
